Third Gene Technology Report. Analysis of a high-tech sector in Germany
Berlin 2015
With the „Third Gene Technology Report“, the Interdisciplinary Research Group (IAG) of the same name at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) once again presents a comprehensive monitoring of current developments in the field of genetic engineering.
In the well-established interdisciplinary manner, various areas of genetic engineering and the current state of science and technology are analysed. Overview articles focus on six topics: epigenetics in bio-medicine, molecular genetic diagnostics, gene therapy, research on stem cells, the use of genetic engineering in plant breeding and agriculture, and the interdisciplinary field of synthetic biology. In addition, the indicator-based approach that quantifies the development and impact of the different gene and cell technologies in the focus of the IAG is used again.
The summary with the core statements and recommendations for action of the IAG in German and English can be found here.
