Fourth Gene Technology Report. Review of a High-tec Sector
Berlin 2018
With the „Fourth Gene Technology Report“, the interdisciplinary working group of the same name at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) takes stock after almost 20 years of work.
In contributions and short „spotlights“, renowned experts and companions of the IAG Gene Technology Report open up different perspectives on the development of genetic technologies and the work of the IAG. After a retrospective, current ethical and social debates and future challenges are discussed. In addition, the volume presents cross-thematic indicators that analyse all six core topics addressed by the IAG (epigenetics, genetic diagnostics, gene therapy, stem cell research, green gene technology, and synthetic biology).
Recommendations for action jointly adopted by the members for all six topics precede the report and complement the assessment.
The summary with the IAG's recommendations for action in German and English can be found here.
